Course overview

This one-day, hands-on training is designed to expand on participants’ understanding of python fundamentals by introducing Python conventions & best practices, explore practical use-cases and familiarising participants with local setup & development.

Learning outcomes

 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Advance their understanding of Python by moving beyond fundamentals to intermediate programming concepts relevant to data engineering.

Apply clean coding practices using PEP 8 conventions, structured functions, and effective notebook organisation.
Check List Item Icon
Implement practical data engineering tasks with PySpark — such as reading and writing flat files, reading / writing to Delta Lake tables with different load strategies and handling schema changes.

Set up and manage a local Python development environment, integrating tools such as Visual Studio Code and virtual environments, and understand how they compare to cloud notebook platforms like Databricks.

 

Intended audience


The intended audience for this course includes data analysts, data engineers, business intelligence developers, and anyone responsible for data extraction, load, and transformation (ELT) tasks who have completed our Python – Beginner (DEPB-100) course or possess equivalent foundational knowledge.

 

Delivery

 

This course is offered privately for groups of around 10–12 participants. Delivered either onsite or remotely by our experienced consultants, it can be tailored to meet your organisation’s specific needs.
