Altis joined FiTT (Females in IT & Telecommunications) at their Celebrating the Digital Frontier luncheon as part of events celebrating International Women’s Day.
We were excited to be joined by some of our clients who are successful women in IT in their own rights. It was a great event to promote and encourage diversity in IT and an opportunity to share stories and network with like-minded individuals.
We were very fortunate to have a diverse panel of speakers, with some fascinating stories to share of their experiences and hopes for the changing digital landscape, including:
- Solange Cunin – CEO and co-founder of Cuberider, an innovative program that encourages an early passion for STEM and coding in high schools by taking students through a real space mission where they learn science, maths and coding.
- 3 students from East Hills Girls Technology School who participated in the Cuberider program last year. The girls spoke enthusiastically about their experience and learnings from developing a program that is now installed on the International Space Station – which in fact is the first Australian technology installed in the International Space Station!
- Kelly Ferguson, CIO of Origin Energy. Kelly shared a very personal insight into her own career in IT and how her determination and “never give up” attitude has helped her be successful and climb the corporate ladder.

At Altis, we are proud of our very diverse team. Diversity is something we have embraced and celebrate across all our business and we are proud to take part in initiatives that encourage awareness and action to improve diversity in ICT. To this end, in 2015 Altis’ CEO John Hoffman signed on as a Pay Equity Ambassador.
We have over 20 different nationalities represented in our growing team and have a level of female participation in senior and management roles which is well above the average for the IT industry. Half of our management team is female and we’re continuously identifying and promoting talented individuals (of both genders) to achieve their best at Altis. We achieve this through a combination of matching the right team members with mentors and by providing ongoing support to enable our team to grow and develop.
