Altis CEO Transition Announcement

After seventeen years of incredible work to further Altis’ mission and values, John Hoffman has announced that he will be stepping down from his role as Chief Executive Officer as of October 2022. During his time at Altis, John has been a leader, mentor, culture champion and friend for the Altis family, guiding and shaping our ongoing success as a team and business.

A small sample of Altis’ accomplishments in those seventeen years include:

  • Creating an environment where people look forward to coming to work, with Altis becoming the 4th company ever to be awarded one of the 50 Best Places to Work in Australia for 10 years in a row.
  • Building long-lasting, positive relationships with clients that are passionate about Altis, leaving the organisation in the strongest position it has ever been in both terms of size and market position.
  • Altis has a long-term commitment to reducing the gender equity pay gap, and in 2020, John became a WGEA Pay Equity Ambassador. To do this, Altis had to successfully undertake a pay gap analysis of its workforce, report the pay equity metrics to the WGEA board, and communicate our pay equity initiatives to our employees.
  • Achieving the ISO 27001 information security management system certification, which means Altis was signed off by an independent authority to the international “gold” standard of data protection to assure the confidentiality, integrity & availability of our client’s data.

John’s vision and leadership will be greatly missed by the team, Board, clients, and partners. But it’s his dedication to our people, his passion for growing and nurturing the careers of our team, and his devotion to creating a unique and wonderful culture that will be the legacy he leaves behind.

“We are particularly grateful for John’s dedication to his team. In his time as CEO, John has nurtured an organisation that attracts and develops highly skilled data professionals to deliver incredible outcomes for our clients, whilst continuing to build on our unique human-centric culture. We wish John every success and happiness as he steps into his next phase of career and life,” said Hyun Choi, the Co-Founder of Altis.

“I am very proud of what we have achieved during my time as CEO and our commitment to our business model of ‘Engaged Team = Loyal Clients = Success’. As I step down as CEO to spend time with my family and recharge after spending 15 years leading this great company, I am very confident in Altis’ continued growth and success, and will be its biggest fan,” said John.

We are delighted to announce that Emilio Gazis, Altis’ current NSW/QLD Regional Manager, has been promoted to the role of Global COO. Emilio has been an integral part of the business for almost 20 years, embodies the values of Altis, and is deeply committed to delivering exceptional work for our clients. Emilio will be supported by the Board, Altis’ leadership team and Co-Founder, Hyun Choi, who will be taking on the role of Executive Director. She will be partnering with Emilio to shape the next phase of Altis’ growth strategy and to align and enable the organisation.

“I am honoured to have been given this opportunity by the Altis Board. I personally want to thank John for his support and friendship over the last 17 years and Gavin and Hyun for their continued faith in my leadership abilities. I look forward to building on the great foundations we have and continuing the journey of delivering tangible business outcomes for our clients and guiding them to become data-driven organisations,” said Emilio.

When Altis was founded in 1998 by Hyun Choi and Gavin Cooke, they had the vision to grow a living company that would prosper in the face of whatever the future held, and we are as dedicated as ever to continue to build long-term partnerships and deliver tangible business outcomes. The transitions taking place at Altis are a time for us to demonstrate our ethos of connecting with courage, heart and insight.
